Cheetah Running Club

I started a running club at school a few weeks ago. The main focus was a 7km race on December 10 that starts on a highway in Tuxtla and ends at Cana Hueca Park, where I run a few times a week.

We've ordered yellow t-shirts that say, "Cheetah Running Club," on the front and have a picture of a cheetah in sprint, thanks to the artistic ability of our school's director, Michy (it is not a school activity and is in no way affiliated with out school for legal reasons).

My students showed incredible interest! Since we began, we've had training practice on Tuesdays and Fridays at 5:00 pm and each time at least ten students have show up.

It's an excellent way to promote physical fitness and it's a lot of fun to see the kids and interract with them outside of school. I've been pleased to see that many parents come and some of them even take a few vueltas around the track.

I have a few that may be able to run the entire 7km. We've only been practicing for a few weeks, so the rest will most likely wait until the next race comes to Tuxtla, but at least they'll participate and see how much fun running races can be.
