Minneapolis Bridge Collapse

Although my father, niece and I just crossed the 35W bridge in downtown Minneapolis yesterday, we were thankfully not on it at 6pm today when it collapsed into the Mississippi River during rush hour.

We've been glued to the television watching the local news coverage and hoping there are few casualties.

The bridge is located very close to my condo in Uptown Minneapolis and I've traveled on it thousands of times to visit my friends and family in the northern suburbs where I grew up.

People often worry about me and my safety during my overseas travels, but unfortunately even in the United States freak accidents can and do happen.

It's another reminder of how precious life is and how important it is to live out your dreams because you may not have tomorrow.
