La Casa de Hora Feliz & Shisha

Glenn and Chris' apartment has officially been tagged La Casa de Hora Feliz! After completing our first week of school, several English and Spanish teachers crowded into their apartment to feast on snacks, drink cerveza and converse. After dark, we moved the party poolside and the core party crowd continued festejando - not surprisingly, I was one of them.

As many of you already know, the best time to practice a foreign language is after a few bevvies. Glenn, who already speaks Arabic fluently after spending three years teaching in Egypt, is picking up Spanish incredibly fast. He has little to no formal training, but he's been hanging out with four of the non-English speaking PE teachers who are having a blast teaching him legitimate words, as well as several groserias.

This last Friday, Jennifer, Carrie, Heather, Rafael and I headed back to Glenn's apartment to meet him and Tomas. We had a couple of beers and walked over to Glenn's favorite, and only, Shisha Bar in Tuxtla. I tried shisha once in Las Vegas at the Luxor during a friend's bachelorette party and again in Bali, Indonesia at a Middle Eastern restaurant; both times it was muy rico.

We had a lot of fun sitting in comfortable couches and enjoying three hookah pipes with pina flavored tobacco and laughing. So as you can tell, once again I've been fortunate to find an abundance of laughter and friendship.
